Nick tries Cancer Research UK's Cell Slider website this week in Westminster

Nick tried out Cancer Research UK's newly-launched Cell Slider website, which presents real images of tumour samples to users in the form of a game of snap - where they are advised which cells

to analyse and which to ignore.

It is hoped that the website will help more samples to be analysed faster and more effectively, freeing up Cancer Research UK experts to do other important research.

At present, the process of identifying the certain molecules in cancer cells which help scientists understand why people respond differently to cancer treatment is a slow one. It is hoped the Cell Slider project will help accelerate this research.

Commenting, Nick Harvey said:

"Research is the number one enemy of cancer. With more than 3 people every hour in the South West being diagnosed with the disease, it is vital we continue to make big advances in the battle against it.

"This exciting new initiative from Cancer Research UK will mean that people in North Devon can play their part in helping beat cancer from the comfort of their own homes. More than half a million images have already been analysed, and as a 'citizen scientist' you could be part of the next big discovery.

"I'd encourage all local people to take five minutes to try the Cell Slider website and help the charity's doctors and scientists continue their important work."
